A survey by CBOS has shown that 81 percent of people who voted for Law and Justice (PiS) in 2011 have done so again this year, significantly above the proportion of people who remained loyal to other parties.

According to the survey only 10 percent of PiS supporters from 2011 did not vote at all this year, and only nine percent went on to vote for a different party.
CBOS claims that PiS’s victory this October came primarily thanks to a large group of loyal voters, combined with additional votes from disappointed Civic Platform (PO) and Polish People's Party (PSL]) voters as well as from first time voters.
The survey found that just 43 percent of PO voters from 2011 supported the party again this year, while 41 percent supported a different party this time round.
The main beneficiaries of the former PO vote were the Modern party, which received 15 percent of PO’s 2011 vote, and PiS, which received 11 percent.
Meanwhile the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD, now the United Left) was backed by 55 percent of its 2011 voters, while PSL was supported by 39 percent. Both parties lost significant amounts of voters to PiS.
Of the almost one-in-five voters this year who had never voted before, 34 percent opted for PiS, 23 percent for Kukiz’15, 17 percent for PO, six percent for KORWiN and three percent for Modern.
The survey was carried out between the 5-11 November this year, on a representative sample of 951 Polish residents, and relied on computer-assisted personal interviewing. (sl/rg)
