Sixty percent of Warsaw residents regularly use public transport

The second most common means of travelling, individual transport, comprises some 38 percent of travel, followed by bicycles − 3.8 percent, as the probe by the City Road Authority (ZDM), reveals.

As the research finds, the city's nearly 2-million-strong population takes some 3.3 million trips within the municipality each working day. Travelling to work and school accounts for 20 percent of the journeys.

During the day, between 6 am and 10 pm, an average 1.3 million vehicles come in and out of Warsaw on a daily basis, with 700,000 of them leaving the city bounds.

The 2015 Warsaw Traffic Survey was run on traffic counts and interviews carried out on a sample of 17,000 adults, between 8 April and 27 June. (aba/rk)
