The deputy chief of Poland's Government Protection Bureau (BOR) has argued that last week's car accident involving President Duda's limousine might have been averted had the tyres been changed.

Colonel Jacek Lipski, who presented a preliminary report at a press conference on Thursday, blamed his predecessors for introducing guidelines that contradicted the instructions of the producer.
According to Lipski, former BOR chief General Marian Janicki had specified that such tyres could be used for six years, whereas the producer had advised two years (the tyres in question were purchased in 2010).
“This could pose a threat,” Lipski said.
He added that tyres older than two years will be changed accordingly.
Lipski likewise revealed that the manager in charge of the transport of VIPs has been dismissed.
The accident occurred on Friday 4 March on Poland's A4 motorway. After one of the rear tyres burst on the president's limousine, the driver managed to steer the car onto the hard shoulder, without crashing into other vehicles.
No one was injured. (nh/pk)
