Tusk, Graś, Kulczyk involved in newly surfaced tapes

Former Polish government spokesman Paweł Graś spoke to late billionaire Jan Kulczyk in 2014, where they discussed the way in which a Polish tabloid was running stories about Katarzyna Tusk, the daughter of then-PM Donald Tusk, a newly-surfaced recording appears to show.

According to the recordings obtained by the Do Rzeczy weekly, Graś and Kulczyk spoke on 17 April 2014, and discussed the editorial policies of the then-editor-in-chief of the Fakt tabloid, Grzegorz Jankowski.
The transcript of the conversation, printed in this week’s Do Rzeczy, apparently shows that Kulczyk asked Graś whether he could do anything to help in upcoming elections.
An election for the European Parliament was held in May 2014.
In the transcript, Graś apparently complains that the coverage by Fakt of some issues within the then-governing Civic Platform (PO) party – particularly stories relating to Donald Tusk’s daughter, Katarzyna Tusk – was hurting its reputation.
At the time, Fakt was running regular stories about what it presented as the lavish lifestyle of Katarzyna Tusk, a fashion blogger.
In the conversation, Kulczyk apparently offered to speak to Friede Springer, widow of media magnate Axel Springer, to ask if she could do anything to help.
The Polish Fakt daily is owned by Axel Springer SE.
Do Rzeczy noted that Fakt editor-in-chief Jankowski was dismissed after over ten years in the role in 2014.
