Police have detained 213 people suspected of owning and distributing child pornography in Poland
The police operation, codenamed Charly II, was launched thanks to information on persons sharing child pornography files gathered by police officers.
“Materials concerning people who download child pornography from the web were sent by Interpol office in Luxembourg to the national police headquarters,” said spokesperson Kamila Szala.
Servers, examined by Interpol, were used by people from many countries around the globe, she added.
The information received by police in Poland led to the search of 215 apartments, homes and company buildings. Officers seized over 280 computers, 19o hard drives and over 13,000 CDs, DVDs and memory cards.
Last January, 120 persons were detained on child pornography charges during a similar action. (kk)
