Poland’s Łódź most congested city in Europe: report

Drivers in Łódź spend an average of 178 extra hours a year stuck in traffic, compared to what they would spend if traffic was flowing freely.

Łódź was ranked the fifth most congested city in the world, surpassed by Mexico City, ranked first, Bangkok, ranked second, Jakarta in third place and China’s Chongqing in fourth position.

According to the report, congestion in Łódź has dropped by 3 percent since last year. Globally, traffic congestion is up by 10 percent year-on-year.

TomTom is a Dutch company that produces traffic, navigation and mapping products.

Ralf-Peter Shaefer, the company’s vice president, said TomTom’s annual report is “designed to help drivers, cities and transport planners to understand traffic congestion and, most importantly, how to reduce it.”
