The mission, called EXO.17, will simulate a Mars expedition. It is a joint initiative by the Exorion foundation, which tests innovative solutions and experimental technologies in extreme conditions, and the Warsaw-based SWPS university.
The Polish team will try out equipment and conduct psychological tests in a setting imitating the Martian landscape.
Among equipment to be tested is a heart monitor, air filters, and a Polish-made multi-purpose space suit.
Researchers in the simulated mission will be coordinated from a Mission Control Centre set up at Poland’s Aviation Institute in Warsaw.
