Lunch breaks are too short, meals often fail to meet nutritional standards, while some school shops are stocked with unhealthy products, according to a report by the Supreme Audit Office, Poland’s top independent state audit body.

The report found that programmes promoting a healthy diet and lifestyle have not halted a rise in child obesity.

The Audit Office carried out checks in 20 state schools and 10 municipal offices between September 2016 and January this year.
