Participants in a “hackathon” will have 24 hours to create an application that will allow people make donations to a foundation helping child cancer patients.

Teams of up to five coders will start competing at 5pm on Friday and finish at 5pm on Saturday.

Maja Tomasiak, coordinator of the HopeIT project, said that the prototype of the winning application would be developed further.

She added that the hackathon was a perfect way to brainstorm and come up with an app using open-source software.
