Government supported by four in ten Poles: survey

Forty percent of Poles support the government, a fall of two percentage points from January, while over half are satisfied with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s performance, according to pollster CBOS.

Meanwhile, 17 percent of Poles said they opposed the government, an increase of three percentage points from a month ago, according to the study. Roughly a third of respondents declared themselves to be neutral.
CBOS pointed out a significant demographic divide in its results. Among 18 to 24-year-olds only 21% of respondents supported the government, compared to 60% among those aged 65 or over.
The pollster also noted that the government enjoyed above average support from the retired, farmers, and actively religious people, while polling poorly among inhabitants of large cities and those with higher education.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki remains more popular than his government, with 53% of Poles saying that they are happy with his performance, a slight fall from January.
The survey was conducted at the start of February, using a representative sample of 1,057 adult residents of Poland. (sl/vb)
