Body of last missing miner found in southern Poland

Rescuers searching for miners trapped underground after a quake in a Polish coal mine have found the body of the last missing man, according to reports.

A total of five miners have died after a tremor hit the Zofiówka coal mine in the southern Polish town of Jastrzębie-Zdrój 11 days ago.
The body of the last missing miner was found trapped under a structure in a collapsed tunnel, the Jastrzębie Coal Company, which operates the mine, said in the early hours of Wednesday.
About 250 miners were underground when the quake hit the mine on Saturday, May 5. Dozens of emergency workers were deployed to search for miners stuck some 900 metres underground.
Rescuers braved high temperatures, a lack of oxygen and high levels of methane in the mine.
Initially seven miners were unaccounted for. Two missing men were later found alive. They sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital. Some others managed to make their way out of the mine unaided.
The May 5 tremor, which measured 3.4 on the Richter scale, according to Poland's State Mining Authority, was also felt on the surface in areas far from the mine, according to reports.
