Called Marches for Life and Family, the demonstrations were planned in 60 cities across the country, with participants advocating for traditional family values and a total ban on abortion.
The marches also commemorated Poland's centenary of regained independence and the 40th anniversary of the election of Polish Cardinal Karol Wojtyła to the papacy.
Marches for Life and Family have been held in about 150 Polish cities since the first one in Warsaw in 2006. (vb)
