The Pole was among a group of 14 churchmen who were elevated to cardinal by the leader of the Roman Catholic Church at a ceremony at the Vatican.
Krajewski, 54, is the first Pole to have been appointed a cardinal by Pope Francis.
He served as a papal master of ceremonies from 1998 to 2013 and was subsequently appointed papal almoner by Francis to help the poor and homeless in Rome.
