Falls on mountain trails were the most common cause of accidents, with hikers most often injuring their ankles and knees, according to the PAP state news agency.
The Tatra Volunteer Rescue Service (TOPR) reported that three people died after falling ill.
In total, there were 44 cases of hikers needing help when they suddenly felt unwell after experiencing problems such as heart disorders.
During last year's summer holiday season, rescuers in the Tatras were called out around 250 times, PAP reported.
The Tatra mountains are a popular holiday destination for Poles both in the summer and winter.
