Council of Europe's Jagland visits Warsaw

The head of human rights body the Council of Europe was on Friday expected to hold talks with Polish officials in Warsaw.

Thorbjørn Jagland, a Norwegian politician, was scheduled to meet with Polish parliamentary Speaker Marek Kuchciński, Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin and Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Jagland, who is secretary-general of the Council of Europe, and Poland’s Czaputowicz were expected to take part in a Warsaw conference focusing on the role of nongovernmental organisations.
The Council of Europe is a 47-nation international organisation that aims to promote human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
