The move came as investigators probe the way Poland’s popular Radom Air Show was organised from 2010 to 2015, when the previous government was in power.
The air show is held every two years, drawing crowds to Radom, south of Warsaw.
The detained officer, named only as General “Lech M.,” was expected to be charged with exceeding his powers in order to obtain financial gain and with misappropriation, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.
As well as the general, two other suspects were detained, one of them the head of an army financial department, according to PAP.
