Poland planning national cancer strategy

Poland's government will develop a long-term national strategy to fight cancer under a bill signed into law by the country’s president on Monday.

The new Polish cancer strategy until 2030 is expected to help reduce the incidence and mortality from cancer and to improve quality of life for patients and their families.
Every year, about 160,000 new cases of cancer are detected nationwide, and about 100,000 people die of the disease, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.
Greenlighting the plan for the new programme of action, President Andrzej Duda on Monday voiced his hope that the new regulations would help fight the disease more effectively.
For now, the number of Poles suffering from cancer is increasing every year, Duda noted.
A study by a team of Polish researchers has found that an anti-inflammatory diet that includes chocolate, red wine and beer could be the key to a lower risk of diseases such as cancer and a longer lifespan.
