New English-language TV channel planned for Poland

Poland’s ruling conservatives plan to launch a new English-language television channel to bring news about the country to English-speaking audiences, according to reports.

Business newspaper Puls Biznesu has quoted Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki as saying that the new channel, part of state-run broadcaster TVP, will be established to bring viewers “the true story” of Poland, its culture and history.
The channel will be launched if the ruling conservatives, led by the Law and Justice (PiS) party, secure a second term in power in the wake of this autumn’s parliamentary elections, Puls Biznesu reported.
The paper said Morawiecki announced the plan during a massive gathering of people with conservative views in a resort in central Poland at the weekend.
"It’s very important that there is an English-language Polish television broadcaster that provides a truthful picture of Poland, Polish culture, history, architecture and Polish hospitality," Morawiecki said during the event, as quoted by Puls Biznesu on its website.
