HIGH NOTE :: Fate and a Masked Ball

High Note music magazine is again in Wrocław, where the Opera has just staged another one of its signature megaproductions, this time Giuseppe Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera.

The megaproduction was the culmination of a midsummer celebration that also gathered in the football fans who had come to Wrocław for Euro 2012 tournament games, and which encompassed a fundraising carnival procession with masks, a picnic for the whole city and a boat parade on river Odra.

The Masked Ball at the Olympic Stadium in Wrocław was conducted by Tomasz Szreder but the conductor whom the audience were seeing in the company of electronics was Bassem Akiki to whom Elżbieta Krajewska spoke after the show...
